Beware the Scribes...
In this series of articles, I will be posting numerous examples of the corruptions in Aleph and B...corruptions that reveal these manuscripts to be worthy of nothing but the flames of a fiery furnace!
Our first example will be dealing with Christ's geneology. In Luke 3:33, the KJV reads:
"Which was the son of Aminadab, which was the son of Aram, which was the son of Esrom, which was the son of Phares, which was the son of Juda,"
The greek from the TR reads: tou aminadab tou aram tou esrwm tou jareV tou iouda
Now here's how the English translation in Nestle's 27th(the 2nd ed. RSV-1971) reads:
"the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,"
And here is the Greek they used: tou Aminadab tou Admin tou Arni tou Esrwm tou FareV tou Iouda
Who are Admin and Arni? This is the ONLY place in the RSV those two names occur(notice, by the way, they DON'T use italics to let the reader know that "the son" is not in the mss)! And where is Aram? The SOLE support behind the reading of the RSV above, according to NA27, is Aleph(2nd corrector), L X (G) f13 and a few others, along with the boharic version. THAT IS IT!!! Not only THAT, but Aleph, one of the "oldest and best," has ADAM in this verse, so that Adam is mentioned TWICE in the geneology! Here's how Westcott and Hort sliced the verse up:
tou admin tou arni tou esrwm tou jareV tou iouda
Notice Amminadab and Aram are not there. Do you know why? Because Aleph and B OMIT them! Aleph and B both have the geneology of our LORD wrong in Luke 3:33, but both have it RIGHT in Matt 1:3,4! That's right! Admin and Arni do NOT appear in Matt 1:3,4...Aminadab and Aram do, and rightly so! Want proof that Aleph and B are corrupt in Luke 3:33? Read Matt 1:3,4 from the RSV I cited before, found within the NA27:
"And Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram, and Ram the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon,"
Before 1881, no English Bible (that I have) has Admin or Arni in them. Wycliffe's, Tyndale's, Cranmer's, The Geneva, Rheims ALL read as the KJV. The only versions that DO have Admin and Arni in them, that I have found thus far, are the ISV, TLB, NCV, NET, NLT, NRSV, RSV, and the NASB(which only has Admin, not Arni). Tischendorf, Alford, W/H, and the NA/UBS are the only ones that substitute Arni for Aram. Why do you suppose no one before them did? Why didn't the KJV translators use Arni instead of Aram? They knew of the readings of Aleph and B. And is the NIV still a "valid bible," even though it does NOT have Admin and Arni in it, like the other mvs above do? Why do you suppose the NIV chose NOT to use Admin and Arni? Perhaps they know something the others don't? Admin and Arni are NOT alternative names for Aminadab and Aram! And why did James White and his NASB crew go AGAINST their glorious NA/UBS text, by putting RAM in place of Arni? This is getting messier, the more I dig!
Aleph and B have corrupted the geneology in Luke 3, which is in reverse order to that of Matt 1, plainly a trap set by God Alimighty to expose such false witnesses!
Does this bother you? Or doesn't it matter, because the problems in this verse aren't "affecting doctrine?" Do you know this verse is dealing with the geneology of Jesus Christ Himself?!? The confusion in this one verse, caused by Aleph and B, has messed up the Divine lineage, by ADDING two NON-EXISTENT people to it(Admin and Arni), and REMOVING two(Aminadab and Aram)! Most discerning Christians KNOW the modus operandi of the devil. Attacking Christ's lineage doesn't surprise US. Others, however, think the devil has given up his day job.
This is just a small taste of the corruptions found within those "older and better" manuscripts. Can you honestly say you trust Aleph and B elsewhere in the word of GOD, after reading the above?
